What do you mean by 'deleted them'?
Why all upper case lettering?
What do you mean by 'memory stick won't open'?
Did you verify you had the data on the memory stick before you erased the
files?
Did you not make duplicate copies of the data in question (like copy it all
to a directory on your computer then copy all of that directory contents to
the USB thumb drive and perhaps butrn it to CD/DVD as well?)

Ouch! Please don't yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,
in mixed case.

Yes, undeleting files from floppies, if you haven't written anything
else to them, should be easy. "Deleting" a file doesn't actually
delete it; it just marks the space as available to be used. There are
third-party programs that can often recover deleted files. Download an
undelete program; here's one I've used that works well:
http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATION.html but there are several
others to choose from.

Thank you for your time. I sure appreciate it and will give it a try! I am
a grandma who is trying to stay up with the times. Got the memory sticks and
put all my things from my floppys on 2 of them. They both worked fine. I
backed up the 2GB, but couldn't afford another 4 GB right now. Guess which
one won't open. Had a computer man look at it and he said it was a good
brand, he never saw one go bad and he can't get info off of it either.

Again, thank you.

Sorry about the upper case. Bad habit. I am a grandma who is not real
computer literate, but trying hard to learn. I had 2 memory sticks. A 2 and
a 4 GB. Backed up the 2 but couldn't afford the 4 right now. Of course I
opened the stick before I deleted the floppies. Worked fine. Thought I was
good unil I got another stick.

The 4 GB is the one that won't open. Took it to a computer tech, who said
it was a good brand, he never saw one go bad, but he couldn't get it to open
either.

Of course I have learned my lesson, but it was a costly one, because I do
embroidery, and had 2/3 of my patterns on that stick.

Remember, not all of us are as good at this computer stuff as you, or we
wouldn't be asking for help.

Thank you for your help. Sorry about the upper case. I am a grandma who can
read the upper case better, and it is a bad habit that I have. My daughter
has corrected me on this, too.

I did back up one of my memory sticks. I have a @ and a 4 GB stick. I
embroider and had all my patterns on floppies. Decided I had better get with
the program and become a lot more organized. Bought the 2 GB and found out
it wasn't big enough, so got the 4. Was very proud of myself for figuring
out how to put everything on them and being able to open and use them with
the embroidery software I have. I opened them a lot the last month, and had
no problem. Went to get a pattern the other night and the computer wouldn't
even recognize the stick. My daughter took it to a person at her work who is
their computer person, and he said that it was a good brand, he never saw one
go bad, but he can't open mine either. I haven't done anything with the
floppies. Hope your program lets me get the info back off them. Then I will
wait until I can afford another (actually 2 other) 4 GB sticks and start
over.

Again thank you for your help. I really appreciate your time and patience!

Thank you for your help.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

OK, but one of the problems you will run into here in the newsgroups
is that many people won't even bother to take the extra trouble to
read an all-caps post. So it will hurt your ability to get the help
you're looking for.

You're welcome..I did download it and try it. It wouldn't work if you
formatted the floppy but if you just deleted it it found it and restored it
just fine.

ALSO, THE PROBLEM YOU WILL RUN INTO HERE IN THE NEWSGROUPS IS THAT MVPS AREN'T AS TOLERANT AS ORDINARY POSTERS AND THEY WILL DEMONIZE YOU AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY THEY CAN GET. THEY ARE COMPLETELY INSUFFICIENT AND MOST PROBABLY THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY JOBS TO GO TO WHERE THEY COULD LEARN SOME SOCIAL SKILLS! CERTAIN KEN BLAKE WHO IS AN OCTAGENARIAN IS A PRIME EXAMPLE FOR BEING COMPLETELY ILL EDUCATED AND DEFICIENT IN EVERY RESPECT, INCLUDING HIS CHARACTER!

THE FACT THAT SOME PEOPLE USE ALL CAPITALS ARE SIMPLY NEW TO THESE NGS AND THERE IS NO NEED TO DEMONIZE THEM. POLITENESS DOES NOT COST ANYTHING AND IT GOES A LONG WAY TO BEFRIEND EVEN THE MOST DIFFICULT FOE ON THIS PLANET.

NOW I HAVE USED ALL CAPITALS TO WIND ALL MVPS AND TO MOTIVATE THEM EITHER TO NOT READ THIS MESSAGE OR TO MAKE THEM READ IT AND RESPOND IT IN ANY WAY IT FITS THEIR RESPECTIVE CHARACTERS. THE GAUNTLET HAS BEEN THROWN AT THEM!!

Hello Robin B.,

It's good to see you participating in the newsgroups. I hope you can help
out in every posting you attempt to answer in the same way you tried to help
here with your own opinion and posting methodology. I sincerely hope you
feel the same about everything as passionatley as you do this. the world
needs more people like you.

And you've just been put into the bozo bin by most people here. I shouldn't
think you'll get ANY replies now....
Serve you right.
