Restore files on XP

Every time my computer boots it says that there is a virus on a file
that's on the c drive and is in a hidden files that contains "restore"
in its name. Am I right in assuming that these are the roll back files
that XP uses to recover the system if there is a problem, cos XP stops
me deleting the files.
The next question is how I get rid of the viruses if I cannot delete the
files! and the Panda anti virus programme does not disinfect them.

Yes.

The next question is how I get rid of the viruses if I cannot delete

Turn off system restore, reboot, turn it back on.
Learn to use google (groups option) since this is an FAQ.
