When I try to open Outlook 2000, it hangs. After reading some of th
similar posts, I realized that my outcmd.dat file must be corrupted
When I followed the instructions and renamed my .dat file, Outloo
would open. The problem is that all of my calendar and contact info i
gone. How do I restore this info? Step by step please. I am a novice
Thank you in advance.I am lost without my calendar! :

The only thing that's contained in the outcmd.dat file is toolbar
customizations. You should not have lost your data, which is stored in a
..PST file. Search your drive for all files with a .PST extension. If
you're using Windows 2000 or XP, you'll need to search in hidden and system
folders to find .PST files.

Thank you Jocelyn.
I have located the outlook.pst file. It is located in th
c:\Win\Localsettings\applicationdata\microsoft\outlook folder. Isn'
this where it is supposed to be? I still don't have my address book an
calendar info. How can I restore it?
Thank you again for all of your help!
Juli

A .PST file can be located anywhere. Open Outlook, and if it complains it
can't find your .PST file, point it to that location. If it doesn't, and it
creates a new .PST file (or it already did that the last time you opened
it), use File | Open | Personal Folders File and browse to that file. Once
you have it in your Folder List, make it your default by right-clicking its
root folder, selecting Properties, and checking the box for "Deliver POP
mail to this personal folders file". Once that's done, you should be able
to close the blank .PST file that Outlook created (if it created
one)...right click its root folder and click Close.
