automated system recovery disk

Went to set up a recovery disk Using XP backup. Said it
would take hours and almost 100 floppy disk. What do you
suggest?
Also how do you back up outlook?

Generally I use the "File and settings transfer wizard" which you can use to
back up files and setting to a single file. Once you have reloaded windows,
you use the file and settings transfer wizard again to restore that file. I
normally put that file on a separate drive or burn it to a CD.

The ASR disk needed for an Automatic System Recovery is one or two disks.
The corresponding backup file can be huge as it is an entire backup of the
system (or system and data depending on your choices). Create the backup
on a hard drive -not the same drive that XP is on. Transfer it to other media.
Floppy disks are not a good choice.

Because the backup program that comes with XP cannot span multiple CDs,
many folks opt to use a different backup/recovery program. Another method
for having a safety net of the entire system is to use imaging software such as
Ghost.
