Can someone please advise me.

The little program I have for retrieving deleted files allows me to retrieve
on full or part file names.

How do I identify an email? I've tried all variations of the title and
address without success.

Many thanks,
Joe Steele

Did you delete it, and them empty the Deleted Mail folder? (assuming an
outlook-like mail reader) If not, the mail is probably sitting in that
folder, unless it's set to purge automatically.

Deleted emails are a whole different beast compared to regular files.
Generally, they aren't saved as individual items, but as part of a
database-type file and it's saved as a whole, on the fly, and there's not
much way of going back.

Or, depending on what mail client and what ISP, the email could actually be
on the ISPs server and not on your computer at all, unless you've purposely
saved it somewhere.

Once an email is gone from the server, it would be up to the ISP to track it
down, if they're willing and able. I'd bet they'd just tell you that if it's
deleted, it's gone. But that would be worth a try. And even if you deleted
it from your computer, there's an off-chance that it's still on the ISPs
server, depending on how you've set up your mail.

And who wrote the "little program"? They can't tell you?

You need to find out from the app maker if the application was designed to
integrate with your e-mail client and perform the task you are trying to
perform. Usually, once an e-mail is deleted from the deleted folder in your
client, it's gone.

Many thanks for the replies. I'll put it down to experience, and not be to
anxious to empty the Deled Items folder in the future.
