Restarting

using xp home (sp1). my pc will restart for no reason in
the middle of doing something. have turned modem off, but
still have the same problem.
 
it sounds like you may have some adware or spyware on there. go to lavasoft
and to download.com and get the adawarese ver6 from lavasoft and the spybot
search and destroy from download.com. install and go online and update them
both. then run them to remove all crud. see if that helps out. also check
your display and system settings for anything that might be causing a
conflict.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
