restart with left shift key

In win 98, one could restart windows with the left shift key depressed to
only restart windows rather than the whole computer.

Can this be done in xp?

"Quick" shutdown/restart is not really an option in Windows XP. Since
Windows 9x sat on top of another OS (DOS) - it was more feasible (but not
always possible) to do this. Windows XP does not sit on top of another OS.
