Have recently upgraded to Office 2003 including Access
2003. Have some existing tables with objects inserted.
Existing tables, forms, reports all work fine.

Problem: When I try to add new objects to these tables, I
get an error message stating i must restart my OLE
server. This is a bit beyond me. And the help topics
don't tell me how to do this either.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Generally this is caused by Norton Antivirus. Take a look at this article
and see if it addresses the issue you are experiencing.

Kristyn,
Thnx for responding to my request for help.
I don't have Norton. Am using MacAfee instead. I read the article, then disabled MacAfee. But no luck - still the same problem. Do you have any other suggestions for me to try?

Hi Bob -

I have seen where sometimes this error means that the program associated
with the object you are attempting to insert is not recognized by Access as
a valid OLE Server.

For example, if the object is a .bmp, make sure that Paint and/or
Photoeditor is being used as the default (when the image is double clicked
from outside of Access it opens in one of these programs). You can
check/change the File Associations to run with specific programs by open
Windows Explorer and go to Tools/Folder Options/File Types. (To continue
the example - Locate .bmp in the list and alter it to point to Microsoft
Paint or Microsoft
PhotoEditor. After the association has been altered, you can try inserting
the object again.)

Hope this made sense! :)

Thnx for the suggestion, Kristyn. But that's not the problem either. I'm going to contact tech support on this. I did a search of this discussion group. And found 18 requests for help with this same or similar problem in the months of Nov and Dec. None had solutions that worked. So now I know this problem is not new, and is not unique to me.
