If you open the properties for the Generic Service resource and look at the
"Advanced" tab, you'll see a few settings that you can adjust. First, you
should make sure that the resource is set to "restart". Then, you'll notice
the threshold settings. You can increase the threshold setting to 10+ to
suit you needs. The Period value is the amount of time that passes between
failures before the resource fails. For example, the default values are a
threshold of 3 with a Period value of 900 seconds. If the resource fails
more than 3 times within a 900 second window, the resource would stop
attempting to come online on that host...and would also failover the group
if the "Affect the group" checkbox was selected.
Finally, you'll see the "Affect the group" check box. When this is checked,
if the resource has broken the "threshold" setting, the entire group will
fail over. If you leave this box unchecked, the resource will simply remain
in a "failed" state once it breaches the threshold values and the group will
remain online on the same host.
Hope this helps.

John

What Advance tab parameters should I set if I need the Generic Service
resource failure to restart itself without affecting the group failover. I
need resource to try restarting at least 10 times every 30 seconds. Running
Window 2003 Advance Server Clustering Services. Thanks in advance.
