Can anyone help me figure out how to automatically save a
person's email address when you reply to them or send a
new one so that the email adress is automatically saved
in your contact file?

Right click on their address and choose one of the "Add to" options

Hi there - best not to put valid e-mail addresses in newsgroup posts - the
person at that address is now going to get spam and SWEN messages forever.
