Resources low in windows

My computer is getting extremely slow. I purchased the memorex program and it tells me my windows resources are extremely low. I have deleted several files on my c drive on My Computer. What else should I delete and how.Will that help speed up my computer and keep it from crashing?
 
When you're a newbie, the worst advice you can take is your own. Trust me on
that - Dell once offered me $500 to put masking tape over their name on my
computer and write 'Gateway' on it.

If your computer is running slowly, it's for one or more of three possible
reasons:

1. Your hardware is insufficient for fast performance.
2. You are not maintaining your computer, to keep it running at its best.
3. You have too many programs running at the same time, including spyware
and adware programs that you unwittingly installed.
