Hello:

My corporate web site is www.aviinc.com. I want to have it so if someone
just puts in aviinc.com without the www it will resolve to my corporate
website. Does anyone know how to do this.

Harrison Midkiff

Yes, and every one of the "how to" is horrible and you don't want to do it.
My recommendation is that you should just fess up and tell your users that
your internal AD name is the same as your external name and, given the
mistake in that design, aviinc.com is NOT an available option. Tell them to
get used to it.

Honestly, you are stuck.

Hi!

To whom do you want the website accessible thru aviinc.com? If it is the
external users then update the DNS to have an A record for aviinc.com
pointing to the web servers IP. If you are using Windows DNS service this
can be done thru the DNS management console where you create a new host (A)
record with Name Blank and providing the IP address of the web server on
which www.aviinv.com is hosted. Doing so should resolve your issue.

Whatever else you do, Harrison, DON'T do THIS ONE!. It will break your AD in
a serious way - unless your DC is also your web server. In which case, it
doesn't matter then.

Deji:

Thanks for replying to my post.

I think I should be okay to do this on my external DNS servers. My external
servers run in a workgroup and are isolated from my AD. I think doing a
blank A record should be fine.
