This post is to thank all those who helped me
to move my 10 gig xp from an old abit amd
900 to an Asus A7N8X-Dlx amd 2400+ without
lossing any functionality of my old system.

I basically used the instructions in MS knowledge
base article 315341 for performing an in place
reinstallation of windows xp. The upgrade
resembles a new installation with all the progress
screens but stay with it until the end.

The main problem was trying to install my scsi
adapter. The system kept complaining about
no resources were available. The final solution
was to rearrange some cards in pci slots. Don't
know why? Then I found one of my scsi cables
required a termination that wasn't required before.

These problems were simple to solve
but took me many hours of trial and error.

But now I'm a happy camper. Thanks to the
great posters in this group.

Yeh. Problem is you've lost all your service packs,
OS patches, etc etc

15 minutes using "Windows update" was all that I needed.
In fact win update did not work for me before the
reinstallation.
