Hi I have a windows 2000 DNS server acting as inside DNS server. It seconds
for the primary DNS server provided by the ISP. I have entered to DNS
entrees of sister companies to help support wan routing. The issue is the
one of the stopper responding. If I trace rout to the sister DNS server
using an IP address it responds and follows the right path over the private
wan route. If I use the DNS name it follows the public rout

Any thought would help.

Yes, look at the IP address returned from the resolution. It's different
than
the IP you are using.

ALL messages travel the network by IP, never by DNS name so your tracert is
just following the path that seems best to a different IP.

This whole setup your describe seems like a flakey setup (but it's not very
clear,
so maybe you just need to explain clearly.)
