resolution help

I have a P4 2.8 with a gig of 400 and a G4 TI4200 on a 19" crt and no matter what game i play i cant get the resolution rate over 640x480x16 is there something that i can do to fix this? I can run my desktop at 2048x1536 with no problems so i know that my monitor will handle higher res for the games. any advise would be greatly appreicated thanks Jago
 
What video card do you have?

Accutally I need to read your post closer....
Try installing the nVidia drivers from the following location:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_53.03
