Resizing the taskbar

I use Window XP, home edition. For some reason, my
taskbar changed size. It is now twice the height, with
two rows; the top row showing programs to launch, and the
bottom row showing currently running programs. Before,
all of these were on one row, and the bar was thinner.
My taskbar is unlocked, but it does not allow me to
change the size, even though the line with the top and
bottom arrows shows when I point the cursor arrow over
the top edge of the bar. Does anyone know why this might
be and how I can change the size. Thanks!

That is very odd. You say that the task bar cannot become smaller
(thinner), can you make it bigger (wider)? If you can, then try to change
your dpi setting on the display driver (I don't think it will work, but it's
worth a shot). Or if you changed any display settings recently, try undoing
that change. That's all I've got.

fab
ps. to change the dpi, right-click on the desktop, choose properties, choose
the settings tab, click on advanced and choose another (smaller) dpi setting
from the drop-down box.

Thank you for the response Fabio, but unfortunetly that
did not change the size of the task bar at all. It is
still about one inch high (when sitting at the bottom of
the screen). You're right, this is very odd. The weird
thing is, I don't really know what caused it. I had not
made any display changes recently. Also, yes I can make
it bigger, up to half the size of the screen, but it will
not get any smaller. Oh well, but thanks for trying!
Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks,

Don

Hi, the same thing happened to me. What may have happened is that you need to adjust your scrollers when the taskbar is unlocked (the little sets of dots on each side of your quick launch icons). Adjust each one of them right and left and see if your quick launch icons push up into a bunch, which will allow you to pull your taskbar back down into one instead of two rows. Remember to re-lock your taskbar afterwards.

You must be having the same problem as I do. Close all
toolbars and then unlock your taskbar. See if there is
some sort of a toolbar that u can't close. Normally u
will find that this is the case and it's this or even
these "secret" toolbars that give u the problem! For me
this problem has to do with the language bar that every
time I start up the PC runs 3 or 4 times. Even if I close
them all there's a toolbar that I can't close. :(
