I created a presentation with about 120 pictures (all
very large files - at least 2 megs each)I accidently came
across an option in powerpoint (office XP edition) that
decreased the size of the pictures to allow the
presentation to run faster. The entire presentation went
from over 100 megs to just about 7 megs. Unfortunately I
can't remember how to do this again. I'm using
Powerpoint 2003. Does anyboyd know how to do this.
thanks

Before you start the process, you might want to make sure that you have
turned off Fast Saves (Tools--> Options--> Save tab, uncheck the box) and
read this page from the PPT FAQ:
Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00062.htm

After that, the process for compressing the pictures from within PPT is:
Right click one of the pictures and select "Format Picture". On the picture
tab, there should be a "Compress" button. Click it, set the options to
compress all the pictures and to delete cropped pieces. When it is done,
click ok twice to get back to your presentation and save that sucker.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical

Hello,

I see that others have already provided the answer, but if you (or anyone
else reading this message) have suggestions as to how to make this feature
of PowerPoint (Word and Excel) easier to use or find, don't forget to send
your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
