resizing images/file size won't change

I'm editting pictures in paint down to 60% of their
original size, yet they'll stay the same size. The kb
amount doesn't reduce like it should, unless I click into
properties, then summary, and then hit ok. Does anyone
know how I could get it to register automatically? I'm
trying to edit hundreds of pictures and it would be a big
help if I could skip this step. Thank you!

Well, if you're resizing hundred of pictures, you might find thie piece of
freeware interesting:

Resizer

I use it nearly every day. Works great.

There's a free WinXP PowerToy for
resizing image files:

Go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures. You can select one
image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
