Okay... maybe I am just looking without seeing.. I am converting an existing
doc to a form.

I have used check boxes no probs but when I use the textbox it is at a
default size.. how do I resize it?

As it is not a webform text box right clicking on it does nothing excexpt
give me the options on the box. (the properties etc - and there is no resize
option in the properties..

I added the text box from the "forms" toolbar if that assists..

Thanks in advance

Kyle

Hi, Kyle,

Once you protect the form and type something into the text field, it
will resize itself to fit.

If you want to increase the length of the empty field, you can
double-click the field to open its Properties dialog, and type a
string of nonbreaking spaces (Ctrl+Shift+spacebar) into the Default
Text box. However, as soon as someone starts filling in the field in
the protected form, it will collapse to one character with the first
keystroke and then expand as more is typed.

The typical question is not how to make it longer, but how to prevent
it from becoming too long, or becoming more than one line deep, which
messes up the form's layout. The answer is to create a table (possibly
with all its borders turned off) in which the row height is set to an
exact value, and put each form field into a separate cell.

If you inserted it from the Forms toolbar, it's not a text box; it's a
frame. You can adjust the size with the mouse or set it in the Format Frame
dialog. You have to remove the line using Format | Borders and Shading.

This worked a treat.. did exactly what I wanted.. the form is going to be
used for people printing out as well as filling in electronically hence the
reason it was important to have a larger area to disply for the field.

Hi Suzanne

Umm.. no.. as I used the forms toolbar and used the text box option it is
not a frame there is no dragging options (nor format frame dialog) - I could
have used the insert frame but this did not do what I needed..

It is a bit bizarre that when you use the text box there is no way to set a
minimum size of the box (unless you use the frame option and shade it I
suppose)

Anyway.. thanks for taking the time to answer!

Cheers

Kyle

Ah. By "text box" you meant a text form field. You threw me off by using the
term "text box" in the first place, especially when others responded with
information about removing the border, etc.
