Resizing a page

I need to resize my PPT pages but I need the items on the page
to stay the same size. Is that possible?
I only found one reference on this forum and it sounds like I'll need
to create a new document then cut/paste from old to new.
Is there a simpler way???

If you are done editing it, you can save out all the slides as images, then
create a new presentation and import the images. This is really the only
way to maintain all the spacing and size relationships.

But we should back up for a moment. Why do you need to resize the document?

That was the quickest reply ever.
On this particular document, I'm using Powerpoint to create diagrams for
print, not for a presentation. They started out small, so I used a 6x8 page
so they'd save as a GIF of the size I wanted. But now they're getting a
little more complicated and spreading off the 6x8 panel, and objects off
the panel don't printout. Saving the slides as images, or copy/paste
to a new document seems way complicated for something so simple.

When you print them, do you print them actual size, or scaled for the paper?

Actually, I save most of the images as GIF's, then paste them
into other documents that will be printed out. It's just a handy
way to create editable diagrams. The problem isn't the printouts
or GIF's but the scale of components on screen - some are scaled
1" = .1" or something handy, and I don't want to goof that up.

Are you using PPT 2003 or 2007?

How many pages?

When you paste the images in, are they at 100% or do you resize?

A Solution (I would need more info to give you the best solution):

Create a new document with the size (and slide master) which you want
Select all objects on the original size and paste content page by page.

You can get a macro to do this automatically, but my quick search could not
find a macro.

Try this:

Start a new blank presentation

Use File, Page Setup to set the page size to something convenient for your
purposes (ie, bigger than the current file your drawing's in)

Open the file that contains your drawing
Select all of the bits that make up the drawing
Choose Edit, Copy

Switch back to the new blank file and Edit, Paste

Your drawing should retain its original size and proportions but will now be
sitting in the upper left corner of a much larger page.

All of that is pretty much what I'm doing.
Note that if you select all slides then copy/paste,
they'll be rescaled to fit the page when you paste.
If you select one page, it won't rescale.
This is only a 10 page document, so this isn't a problem
but I could picture it getting out of hand on a big presentation.
I'm using PPT 2003, and when I paste them they don't rescale.

Hi Mike

What I would do is change the page size then double click the picture ->
size -> untick 'lock aspect ratio' -> reset -> preview -> retick 'lock
aspect ratio' -> ok. As you are using 2003 you could record a macro & then
run it on all the gifs. Hang on, just tested the macro - you need to click
'ok' instead of 'preview' then double click again -> size -> tick 'lock
aspect ratio' -> ok.

Hope that helps :-)

Ah, but I didn't say to copy the *slide*
My suggestion involves copying all of the shapes ON the slide.

It wouldn't be too difficult to automate this for larger documents.
