resize inserted picture to fit slide

My presentation will consist of pictures only, with added titles and music
track. Is there a quick way of resizing the pics (jpegs imported from hard
drive)? they seem to be far too big and using the manual 'handles' is very
laborious.

Have you try inserting the pictures through Insert > Picture > New Photo
Album? The photo album feature should be able to adjust them for you.

Right click the picture
Format Picture...
Size Tab
~7.5 x 10 will fill viewable and printable portion of the page.

If you want to resize all pictures "automatically" you'll need to use
VBA to loop through the pictures and resize them.
