Resetting RAID

I had a RAID 1 configuration running fine for the last 12 months or so, but
it appears that one of the HDD's has failed. I cannot start the machine as I
get the following error:

"a problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the licence for
this computer. Error code 0x80090019"

I cannot boot into safe mode.

What I want to know is if I enter the RAID configurator (Intel Application
Accelerator) and reset disks to non-raid, will I lose the data on the good
disk?
Thanks
Neil

Yes; unmounting a RAID 1 disk from an array marks it as blank.
The proper method for recovering from RAID 1 drive failure is:
1. Replace bad drive with new drive.
2. Enter RAID controller utility and 'rebuild' the array.
3. Go back to work.

'HOWEVER': Given that one purpose of RAID 1 (mirrored disks) is to be able
to boot and continue using a computer even 'after' one drive in the array
fails, a Windows error code indicates that you have other issues besides (or
in addition to) a failed drive.
What leads you to conclude that one drive has failed?
Typically, when one drive of a RAID Array fails, the RAID BIOS utility stops
the boot process to report that fact with an error message. You are then
given a choice between (1.) continue to boot or (2.) shut down and replace
the drive.
Did you receive any such error?

If hds might be the issue, usually the RAID utility will show "Failed" on a
drive.To
double check, download the DOS hd check utility from the hd mfg web site, run
the tests.Unfortuntly, not all utilities read under RAID,as with maxtors
test utility,
one must unplu 1 hd to test, also it must be plugged into the silicon image
SATA
controller to see its own hd,intel hardware doesnt work. After testing both
indep-
endtly, one can reconnect both to intel,& the RAID set is as was w/o damage..
Also, intel application utility RAID edition, has been updated to Matrix
storage,its
been updated probably dozen times, accelrator retired 3 yrs ago...

Do *not* break your RAID (unless you are simply using mirrored drives) or
you will loose it all.

You have not given any evidence that a drive has failed. At any rate...as
far as the OS is concerned
the array acts like a single drive...so you can run your normal diagnostics
as such.

I'd start out with a RAM test
and running chkdsk from the repair console
