Hi damax,
The following is taken from '2007 Microsoft Office System Inside Out' (page
125).
'When you click Set Password, you'll be prompted to enter a password and
then confirm the password you entered. Passwords you use in OneNote are
case-sensitive, so be sure that the Caps Lock key is turned off when you
enter a password the first time. You cannot recover a password that you
forget, which OneNote reminds you of. Be sure that you have a safe record of
the password in the event you forget it.'
As far as I know, this is the case and there is NO way to recover the
password. It may be stored in the registry, but whereabouts I am not sure,
but even if it was then it would be encrypted and extremely difficult to
decipher.
