it has been 1 year since I last logged onto my system, due to a heart attack
and it's recovery/ I also am putting together a ew more poieni PC and none of
my password will let the recovery console continue, if i just hit enter most
functions do NOT work. I can not get the drive to boot-up but it is seen in
post, and ID with correct Western Digital Serial number but will not boot to
windows. it was in an Asus A7V mothrboard, and now it is in an MSI K7N Delta
ILSR motherboard BOTH MOTHERBOARDS USED PROMISE ATA 100 or better RAID the
Asus 0,1, JBOD the MSI does more RAID Modes.if booted without the install
disk it does not recognise the HD but does when the disk is in the dvd drive
it wants to install a new windows, or go to recoverey. I thought I could just
lay a Windows over the other but it looks like it will install a complete new
Windows.

The link below will help you in how to reset the built in administrator
account so that you can logon to RC. Often an upgrade/repair install will
fix problems with the operating system but sometimes not in which case a
pristine install is the way to go. Assuming your data is not encrypted with
EFS you could always access it by putting the hard drive in another computer
with a functioning operating system or do a parallel install of the
operating system. If EFS is used you need to make sure you can access and
decrypt your EFS files before a new install or you may lose permanent access
to them. --- Steve
