Greetings,

I have a client who has many Windows 2000 Pro workstations. I have Group
Policy set to enable the password protected screensaver after 10 minutes. If
the user forgets their password (happens often) and the password is reset;
the workstation is still looking for the old password. Is there a way to get
the windows 2000 workstations to check against the new password?

Thanks in advance!!

try to reset the user password through Active Directory and use the new
password to unlock the workstation.

That's where it is currently being reset, that's where the problem lies.

You don't have to use that users credentials, andy Admin account can unlock
it.

I understand that, however if the user is in an application and hasn't saved
their work, they will lose it....

FYI - I have found the answer for anyone looking for it, the settings is:

Computer>Windows>Security>Local>Security Options>Interactive Logon: Require
DC to unlock workstation

I know that, however the user will lose any unsaved data which is not
acceptable.
FYI - I have found the setting in Group Policy to fix it and it is:

Computer>Windows>Security>Local>Security Options>Interactive Logon: Require
DC to unlock workstation.

Is this setting only available to Windows Server 2003. I couldn't find it
in our Windows 2000 SBS Server.

Technically it's under Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security
Settings>Local Policies>Security Options
It's there.
