Reserving an IP address for VPN client

I have a requirement to reserve an IP address for a client (a Wyse thin
terminal) which connects to my network via a VPN connection to an ISA
Server. As the RRAS service allocates the IP addresses after reserving them
from the DHCP server, there appears to be no way to configure the
reservation based on the client MAC address.

Is there any way to achieve this?

The issue I have is that the thin client also acts as an LPR server and I
want to configure my TS server with this printer so when the client
connects, it can print to this queue. As the VPN client does not register
with DNS, I cannot use the name of the client, hence the requirement for a
reserved IP.

Any help much appreciated.

You can have the client request a IP address and enable only that particular
client to get the requested address through policies based on the client IP
address (used for VPN).

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, the client can only use DHCP in it's
VPN configuration and there is no option to specify an IP, hence being stuck
trying to reserve an address in some way.

The thin terminal uses an account to sign on; the dial-in tab in AD U&C
allows you to assign a static IP address, also exclude IP from DHCP and this
way every time this account is used it will gets the same IP address.

Hope that helps

Thanks for that Karl, right under my nose all the time.

Tried this and worked like a charm.

Thanks,

Ian.
