Requirements VS2005

Hi,

I've seen a site, of which I can't remember it's url, that stated the
following:

"The prefered platform for Visual Studio 2005 development is Windows XP".

Is this true? Does this mean we CAN't, SHOULD't or CANNOT develop using
Windows 2000?
