request virus scan

I have windows xp and norton professional virus scan edition. I just downloaded a norton update and now when I open an EXCEL or Microsoft WORD document, I get a " Request virus scan " message in the lower left hand corner and the document is scanned for viruses. How can I stop this scan ...since it takes too much time to scan a new document. Had the computer for a year and this is the first time this has happeed.

You have to set that in NAV, my version has an option called Office plug-in
under miscellaneous

Hi guys,

I just went through this myself today also. There must
have been something in the latest NAV update that is a
problem. It caused my Excel to hang. This never happened
before! I notified Symantec of a potential problem.

Peo's answer is correct.
