First, please post in an appropriate group. This is a .NET programming
group.
To select an appropriate group, use the tree view at the left here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...spx?guid=1080912A-26C5-7040-AFDD-2224A4FEB3EA

Open your language of choice, then scroll down to the Windows category. Pick
a group for your version and look for a group on hardware.

Speaking of hardware, it sounds like your writer has died. Have you tested
it in a different PC to see if it will write at all?

Dear PvdG42,
I'm so sorry for going to the wrong place, this is all new to me and i am
clueless as you may have realised. Thanks so much for your advice and i hope
i can sort it out. BTW the device reads other dvds, cds and even previous
dvds from a back up i had done in the past by professionals so i hope it is
not dead.
Regards
JC

Sounds like your hardware is OK, and you need some settings help.
No worries about posting here. I was just trying to get you where you'll get
some good answers :)
