When I try to install a new express card from Lexar with 8 gb for use to
readyboot
the machine tell me there is an other buffer in use in the system? and the
system tels me I must remove it. ????
where can I disable the other buffer and what sort of device is the standard
buffer?
The machine is installed with 1 + 2 gb memory =3gb.
The hard drive is 2 partisions C:\ & D:\
The computer is an ASUS M51SR

You can only use one ReadyBoost device at a time.

Check all your devices, including the new card, see if they have a file
named "ReadyBoost.sfcache" in the root directory.

Turn ReadyBoost on or off for a storage device:

You can access the ReadyBoost settings from Start Menu > Computer. Right
click the device and select Properties from the context menu.

You need to format your ReadyBoost drive in FAT32 format and then you give
it a ready boost size of up to 4GB.

Did you previously have a different ready boost drive? If yes put in back
in and disable ready boost on it before you put in the new drive.

I believe ReadyBoost supports both the NTFS, FAT16 and FAT32 formats.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Over and above the other answers you've gotten, I'll point out that
with your having as much as 3GB of RAM, it's highly unlikely that
ReadyBoost will do anything for you. ReadyBoost helps when you have
1GB or RAM or less.

And in my opinion, if you have 1GB or RAM or less, you're much better
off spending your money on additional RAM, rather than on a thumb
drive.
 
I don't know it if supports Fat 16 but it is a complete waste of disk space
to format it in NTFS due to the large amount of directory space required.
 
I have it running with a NTFS formatted drive.

I agree, but I do not think this has anything to do with the OP's problem.

Do you get the error when you try to set it up for ReadyBoost or before? If
yes and if you are running 32bit Vista and can reformat the drive format it
into 2 4GB partitions. And then try and set up ReadyBoost in one of the

You are certainly free to disagree, but I'll stand by what I say. I
have the greatest respect for Mark Russinovich (who I met last week,
by the way), but my experience with ReadyBoost bears out what I said
below, and I'll stand by it. Moreover, in the article you cite, he
doesn't address the varying significance of ReadyBoost on computers
with varying amounts of RAM.
