REQ: program to extract jpeg from mpeg

fc42

I've tried searching Google for it today. The best I found was video2photo.
When I tried to register it to make it fully functional, I was sent an email
saying they stopped giving out the free licenses 8 days ago.

Does anyone here know of an easy program that will let you scan through an
mpeg video and extract a selected still to be saved as a jpeg? Thanks in
advance.

Maybe not the ideal solution, and probably other better ones, but Media
Player Classic in frame step mode followed by the Print Screen key, then
pasted into your favourite graphics application(Photofiltre maybe?) seems to
work well.

Avisynth(http://www.avisynth.org) allows you to output the entire mpeg or
individial frames using the builtin Imagewriter filter
(http://www.avisynth.org/ImageWriter). From the docs - you make a file in
notepad, for instance, and call it 'whatever'.avs with
# Write frame 5 to "C:\000000.jpg"
ImageWriter("", 5, 5, "jpg")
To find out more checkout www.doom9.org and its forums.

Interesting idea! I only need to capture a few images, so this might work
very well. Thanks for the suggestion.

You're welcome. I just tried to solve the problem with what I already had on
my pc.
