With my version of the JPEG2000 plugin for Irfanview, the maximum image size
that can be saved in JPEG2000 is 640x480. Is there any limitation on the
JPEG200 image size that can be read and displayed by Irfanview?

Don't know about Irfanview but I use a non-freeware program called Polyview. I
can save to JP2 in any size I choose.

I just tried Xnview, and I was able to save an 1800x1200 image in JPEG2000
format.

Xnview has (at least) the following options for JPEG2000 format:

[jpc] JPEG-2000 Code Stream jpc Only Windows, Plugin required
[jp2] JPEG-2000 JP2 File Format jp2 Only Windows, Plugin required

[lwfjpc] LuraWave JPEG-2000 Code Stream jpc Only Windows, Plugin
required
[lwfjp2] LuraWave JPEG-2000 Format jp2 Only Windows, Plugin required

I used the [jp2] format, not the LuraWave [lwfjp2] version. I think
Irfanview has only the LuraWave plugin, and it is limited to 640x480 for
saving.

I'll have to investigate further to understand these formats. I have no
idea what the "code stream" formats are.

thanks bill, for the heads up that other graphics viewers to support saving
JP2 files bigger than 640x480.
