This modem's got me beat so if anyone can help me track down the Win2K
driver for this modem I'd be grateful.
It's a Rockwell internal PCI modem. The chip details are:

RS56-PCI
R6787-12
Rockwell 97
9846 B67261.4
MEXICO

On startup Windows 2000 Pro finds this modem as a 'PCI Serial Port'.

I ran listmodem app from Conexant and the log file was:
=====================================================================
= RESULT OF MODEM QUERY =

NUMBER OF MODEMS FOUND = 1

HSFp_Win2k.zip, all20802.exe, PT3515.zip, and rs56r6787-12.zip. None of
these work. Thanks for any help.

Rockwell was acquired by Conexant some time back, and they now make
the HSF chipsets that are so commonly used on generic hosted modems.

A reference driver is available from the conexant site:

http://www.conexant.com/support/

I don't know if the reference driver supports the
voice/fax/speakerphone features or not as those aren't found on all
modems. They also provide links to companies that use their chipsets,
so you might be able to find a driverset that better matches your
modem that way.

Something that might be helpful (or not) is that the Linux driver's
readme
(http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/index.php?PHPSESSID=627640045f4c526da6e6fdf4ef2789a4)

mentions that if the HSF driver doesn't work for the rev2005, you
might have better luck using HCF drivers with it. This mention might
apply to the windows drivers as well. I suppose you could try the
reference drivers for the HCF modems if you find yourself running
against a wall.

As a slight followup, I found a mention of why this may be the case:

From: http://www.modem-help.com/mfcs.php?mid=122&nid=4508

"Some HSF modems got given the HCF-ID of 1025, and some HCF modems the
HSF-ID of 2005 (double-whoops)."

So you might want to try the HCF drivers if the HSF drivers don't
quite fit right.

I've seen this before; the trick is to let it first be a serial port, reboot, and then let that
serial port be the location for the modem.
