Hello,

Does anybody know for any freeware Handwriting Recognition Software?

I've just bought a Logitech IO Digital Pen, which comes with a 30 day
limited trial of Action Objects MyScript Notes. However, paying $59.95 is
not on the cards!

The files are saved as ".pen" but can also be saved as a image file.

Can anybody help?

Okay, just to re-cap:

I'm not looking for a serial of the software. (That's illegal and OT)

I was looking for freeware that could recognise ".pen" file types, or
software that would be able to translate an image file of my handwriting to
text.

I just wanted to clarify.

It's my understanding that the Logitech Io software is coded to an XML-based
document schema being put forward by the World Wide Web Consortium --- however,
it seems to be the only such implementation thus far....

VisionObject's software is actually quite affordably priced in comparison to
other HWR-related things (which are usually only available as OEM bundles).

The only other such program I'm aware is IBM's InkManager developed for use
with the CrossPad --- but I doubt you'll be able to transfer from the Io into
it.

There has been some development of other tools for this sort of thing though,
look up ``Jarnal'' and Berkeley's DENIM / SATIN / SILK projects.

Thanks for the info.

I have to admit that I've bitten the bullet and paid for the licence.
Afterall, it was costing me more than £30 in time at work to find software.

(And yes, I know it's OT, but.....it's a very good piece of software!)

I was thinking of pointing that out ;)

Hmm, interesting. Most reviews I've seen of it haven't been that positive. Will
have to keep trying the demo out in mind.
