I have 5 jpeg pictures, about 80 kb each. I want to make little
slide show that I intend to use as my avatar. Do I have to convert pictures
to gif, are they smaller then, and how do I make one animated file out of
five, with what software ?

I've made gif animation and it looks fin on my PC,
but when I upload it on some site I only see first frame.
When I download it, it is the same size as one I've uploaded,
but then it's static on my PC too. Do I need some plugin for
browser (I've tried IE, Opera and Firefox) or what ???

Some browsers, firewalls have an option NOT to play GIF animations. (I
believe this is the default setting for Webwasher.)

When you download it again, are you viewing via a browser or some program
like Irfanview?

Below is a bunch of urls to online free image tools that will let you
take an existing image(s) & allow you easy manipulation of those image
files in several different ways.
There are no programs to download.
The only thing you download is the finished image products.

Some of these online image tool websites let you optimize .jpeg, .jpg,
gif, & .png file extensions.
Gif bot for example let's you convert jpeg(s) to gif(s) or vise-versa.
At the same time, it will optimize the image file for you. You choose
the one you want to download & save.

At Image Magick or Blendgif websites, you can combine these converted
gif files that you saved & make the five .gif files into a 5 cell
animation .gif image. presto!

At some of the other sites, listed below, you can add many othe types of
special effects & stuff like that.

This may be an OT post, but at least, it is free & a true alternative to
downloading the tool programs themselves.

For Firefox try this:
In the address bar type about:config, then copy and paste in the filter
field:
image.animation_mode
Is its value "normal"?
I like better to not have animations, so my value is "once", but to see gif
animations this value must be "normal".

Thanks but it is allready set to "normal", must be some other problem ?

In Mozilla under preferences > Privacy & Security > Images > you can set
Animated images should loop
As many tines as the image specifes
Once
Never
