Here is a very small but useful one.
http://www.grofsoft.com/nft/overview.html

A small display can be moved to any location or turned off, will show time
per session or total time since last reset.(which you can set to daily,
weekly, etc)

You didn't mention whether you had a dialup or broadband connection.
If the latter, does it use DUN anyway (some do)? Do you use multiple
connections? Which OS?

Various programs mentioned in roughly the last year for tracking
online time (that I snipped -- there were others) plus some other
recommendations I copied from somewhere or the other. Some programs
were mentioned by more than one person. A few have comments in the
detailed section.

Pricelessware Note - Is this a missing category now? Surely a couple
of these are worthy of inclusion.

Good luck,
BillR

I'm not sure about the logging part, but Sysmetrix provides TCP

in/out,
avg. TCP in/out, and total TCP in/out (in MB, KB, GB, or whatever you
want), as well as having other functions. The nice thing about it is

that
it's so customizable that you can use as many or as few of it's

features
you want, and you can make it look any way you like.

No Frills Timer is a nice program but be aware that all
records are kept in the Registry. If you do a Restore or
alter the registry or your system crashes while NTF is
running the current records will be corrupted or lost. I
now use Tick (recommended in another thread) which stores
info into logfiles.

<snip>

Bill I use win98 on this system and the other system is xp. I basically need
it to keep track of daily use as the isp I am on allows x amount of hours
per day and last isp cut me off due to overuse so wanted to make sure I was
not over using my hours. I am on a dialup.. The No Frills works fine but
will look into the others and take note on the one mentioned at the end of
the thread. Thank you so much for your time.

FWIW - a couple of the names looked very familiar so I checked the
cumulative PL and sure enough . . .

Dial-Up Networking Monitor -------- PL2002

Tick -------- PL2002

Neither one is on the PL2003 nominations list - possibly they were
overlooked or ? . . .

I've forgotten where I got the actual quote I referenced, but the
first of the following will do. The next two state that the monitors
did not receive a second/more than 1 vote.

PW2002 programs). These programs are NOT being updated for the PL2003

I don't know which of the previously mentioned ones is the best.
Furthermore, some other applications may incorporate these
capabilities, such as a sophisticated dialer or a network or bandwith
monitor.

I suspect there are at least two subcategories: simple and complex.
Criteria might include the level of detail maintained (cumulative or
every connection), the specific statistics gathered (time, volume),
cost calculations (or not), the OS, the connection (DUN/RAS or
ethernet or ??), single/multiuser, whether cumulated for a LAN,
single/multiple ISP accounts, and reporting desired (warning message;
simple or detailed report).

Matrix anyone?

Verifying that they weren't found worthy of inclusion last year. ;)

This year could be different . . .

I'm hoping someone will nominate a Screensaver maker

and a wallpaper changer . . .

fairly frequent requests for those.

Other *missing* programs? Anyone?
