wondered if you guys knew where I could get my hands on a 3Ghz AMD Athon
CPU Chip--I plan to upgrade from my AMD 1.8Ghz XP 2200 Chip in about a
year?

First, it's not 3GHz, XP3200 is the upper limit for socket A
that your current XP2200 is.

Second, there is no vendor we could name that will be
assured, maybe not even likely, to continue carrying this
aging CPU a year from today. Most vendors are not looking
to buy or sell these anymore.

Third, a year from now it will be a poor price/performance
benefit to buy one. You'd need PC3200 memory for it (addt'l
expense if you don't have any yet) and with that memory you
can at that point in time buy a Socket 939 board and Sempron
for little extra cost but more performance.
