Hopefully people from ATI read this forum. Everytime I submit issues
via their website, I get back canned responses that are of no help.

Win2K SP4
Radeon 9800XT w/ current drivers (02/24/04)
ATI Media Center (current drivers)

When trying to run DVD (v8.9) on a system that has two monitors, I get
an error:

Fatal Error
Failed to render video stream

when launching the movie.

If I disable "extended desktop" (Display Properties | Settings ) and
only use one display device the DVD player works.

Welcome to ATI and multi-monitor hell.

Looks like I'm going to have to completely wipe out and re-install XP Pro
(thankfully it's still pretty clean) because of their driver hell and the
fact they seem to totally disregard anything but themselves in the system.

In my case, just wiped out all ATI, then re-installed Cat 4.2.with WDM
(Radeon vivo here) and all went well. DirectX appeared ok. Then installed
MMC7.7, DirectX now ****ed (again) rendering in short little barely
noticable stutters (e.g. like film at 10 fps). That leaves video-in working
but then for some odd reason every time there's a res or freq. change, the
system does a seek on my floppy disk drives!!!

If instead I install MMC8.9 (which they say to use with Cat 4.2) the
video-in doesn't work.

It wears thin very fast and that's before I even try to install the Xpert98
and get multi-monitor back.

If you're in an area where PAL is used instead of NTSC then you probably
need to download the DirectX 9 patch for PAL from the Microsoft site.
