Sorry to repost but this ended up in Getting Started. I
did have one reply with the suggestion that I delete the
suspect Form, but it wont let me do that.

Hi. Ive just had a database corruption and I wonder if
anyone has any ideas on how to recover from this, rather
than revert to the last backup. I was in the process of
renaming a Form and I got a corruption message. It said I
should compact and repair to correct the problem but doing
this simply causes the message to repeat. If I repeatedly
click the messages OK button, I eventually get a different
message saying that the Form I tried to open doesnt exist
or has been renamed. This is the last Form I was trying to
rename. I would appear that part of the db thinks this
Form exists while another does not. When I click OK on
this, it reverts to the original message. Eventually,
after much clicking on OK, I can open the db but the
minute I try any activity, including trying to delete,
rename or create a Form, I get the same error message.
Curiously, though, it will allow me to look at objects in
design view. Has anyone any ideas about how to get out of
this? I thought of copying the tables to a backup but it
wont let me do anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Noel

First, always work on a copy of the database. Working on the original may
make it impossible for a repair service to fix it.

Download a copy of JetComp.exe:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;273956

Also have a look at the Microsoft KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;209137

Then have a look at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you
may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate
the rest.

Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving
corrupt databases. Try this URL:

Thanks Kevin but no, that cant be done. It wont let me do
any exports or imports. All I get is the message. Thanks
anyway, Noel

Thanks for all this info Arvin. I cant get the download to
work here at home (I get a broken film symbol each time)
and I dont think my system at work will allow me to do a
download. Do you have a copy you could EMail me at
(e-mail address removed) I need an Access 2002 copy.
Sorry to be a pain but I would appreciate it. Thanks
again, Noel

Hi again. No need to send me a copy of that exe file. I
did manage to download it here in work but Ive tried it
and although it does compact the database, it doesnt
repair it. Looks like Ill have to revert to the last
backup after all. Thanks again for the help, Noel
