report will not sort

I have a report that creates a work schedule, sorted by date. This report is based upon a query, which sorts by date. The sorting works on the query, but, when I run the report, specifying the dates needed, the report does not sort by date. So, sorting works in the query, but, not in the report. I have tried to delete this date field, and re-add it to the query and report, but, it still does not sort. Any suggestions?
 
The report will ignore the query's sort fields/sort order. You need to sort
your report using the report's Sorting/Grouping capabilities.
