Hello,

In A2007 I am trying to size a custom label report. I sized it 4 (w) x 2
(h) and set the column size same as detail. I set the margins at .1. I
have an unbound textbox to hold the name and address.

When I open the report in print preview in portrait mode, the height is much
more than the width. In landscape mode the printing doesn't show. I put
lines around the textbox and only the top line shows in landscape mode. In
portrait mode the left line shows, and part of the top and and bottom, but
not the right.

I don't have the print drivers installed and can't size it from the printer
model.

Thanks for any help and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

Hi Mark,

I would think you would need to start with the installation of a driver
for a printer, even if you do not have a printer, so that Access can
determine its characteristics in order to be able to display the page
correctly. You probably could install a generic printer driver. Or just
download a likely printer's drivers from a likely manufacturers web site and
install it. Often you actually do not need to be connected to a printer in
order to install the driver. Note that a fair number of printers will not
print as close as .1" from the edge of the margin.

Hope that helps,

Clifford,

I can't install a driver on the client's system. I am working remotely and
don't have the authority. I requested that he install the driver for the
printer he will use. In the mean time I thought I would simulate a label.

God Bless,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Working remotely does indeed have the ability to leave your hands tied.
When possible, I will work on a local copy. Best of course is where the
forms, reports, queries and code database is split from the data database
itself. Then you just work on a copy of the front end on your own compuer
and replace it on the clients when ready. In such a case you can install
whatever you need to do the design work on your own computer. If you are not
familiar with split databases, see your online help. Also, see Allen
Browne's site <http://allenbrowne.com/ser-01.html> for more information. And
for a front-end updater see Tony Toews' site
<http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/autofe.htm>.

Hope that helps,

Clifford,

They are finally addressing this now. I instructed them how to make the
driver available. As far as working locally, I don't want to take the time.
The client wouldn't be happy with the time spent, so I would have to work on
my own time and I have paying work to attend to. Sometimes the clients
don't want to respond in a timely manner or at all. ;)

God Bless,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Aahh.. Reality vs. Ideal. Oh well....

Good Luck! And God bless you too!
