Report Grid and Momentary Design Delays

I have a few reports where I changed the grid from 24 x 24
to 30 x 30.

Recently, I noticed that these reports seem to have a lag in
them as I try to modify the source for text boxes--it takes
about 5 seconds to get control back after making a change.

When making lots of changes, it really gets irritating.

Is there a rule of thumb for avoiding this behaviour?

Well.... Now I'm doubting that it has anything to do with
the grid setting. But I still don't know what's plaguing
these reports. The run fine, but when making changes in
design view detail section, each change has about a
five-second delay before I can get the focus back.
