Report Filter Disappears

We use Access 2000. Three of our users have had the
following problem:

They open a report in design that contains a filter such
as
[penddt]>#02/01/01#.

They make a design change to the form (they do nothing to
the filter). They save the report. The filter, which is
located in the Report Properties, Data Tab, Filters,
disappears.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone
know how to stop it from happening?

I've only seen this happen when you change the record source for a form.
Since filters are specific to the source, Access automatically erases the
filter if the source changes so that it won't apply the wrong filter. I
don't know of a way to get Access to stop doing this. I just copy the
filter before modifying the source, then paste it back in after I'm done.
