Peter:
I think I've found the solution to your problem. I'm betting you are
running with a Notes client. Is this correct? (If not the same solution
may apply, with other clients but my guess is that its a Notes issue.)
Anyway, look in your temp directory; if your are on NT / 2000 / Xp, this is
a hidden directory below your Documents and Settings folder as in:
c:\documents and settings\Peter\Local Settings\Temp
You may need to open Explorer's view options and check "Show hidden files
and folders".
If you look in that directory, my guess is that you'll find a snapshot file
with the very same name as the report you are trying to export. (this can
get left over from a failed send etc.) When this occurs, the next time you
try to use send object to send a snap shot via Notes, viola you end up with
the file created and embedded in the mail but with the weird file suffix of
*.XLS. Delete the snp file in the temp directory and try to send object
again; you'll be back to sending .snp files.
This is a totally weird bug on IBM / Lotus' part, but simply deleting the
left over file should solve the problem.
Hope this helps.
