report display in Print Preview is sometimes distorted

I have a report that usually displays in Print Preview, and prints properly
without a problem. But occasionally, the display is distorted, where only
the text in the upper left corner of the report will appear in very large
font, like a 36 or 40 font size. The rest of the report neither displays in
Print Preview nor shows up in the printed output, because the text in the
upper left corner is so large it's like it pushes everything else off the
print field But it doesn't always do this. Usually everything is ok.

I haven't been able to determine when this happens. It seems to do it at
random.

It's a relatively simple report: the record source is a query based on a
single table. There are two subreports, but they are also based on queries
based on single tables. Nothing especially complicated about any of it.

Any ideas about what's going on with this, and what I could do about it?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

I have seen any of the following cause this sort of problem.

1) Auto Center or Auto Resize set to Yes and the report is maximized by code
as it opens in preview mode. It's actually just one of these two items, but
I don't remember which.

2) You are using Windows XP themes. Try Classic Theme and see if that helps.

3) You need to update your Office service pack level to the most current
service pack.

4) You need to update your video driver.

If none of these solve the problem, then there is probably something
corrupted in the report. Try to recreate the report and see if the new one
behaves.

Thanks for the different things to try, Wayne. I have a question about one
of them:
2) You are using Windows XP themes. Try Classic Theme and see if that
helps.

I know what Themes are in Data Access Pages, but what are they in Reports?
Classic isn't one of the choices in Autoformat, so where would I find themes
in reports?

I'm particularly interested in #2 because I've been developing this database
on two different machines, one using Windows 2000 and the other using XP.
But again, I can't find anything in the report that lets me set the Theme.

Where should I be looking for it?

Wayne's not talking about an Autoformat within Access: he's talking about an
option within the operating system (on the Start Menu tab under Settings |
Taskbar and Start Menu Properties on the Start menu)

Ok. I'm at my Win 2k computer which doesn't have Themes, so I'll check the
settings on my Win XP computer when I get there.

Thanks, Doug
