report and subreport format preview speed is slow

I have a report that users have been using that captures report criteria
through a criteria form that loads when the report loads. A sub-report is
being requested that will use the same criteria being entered; however the
sub-report will display completely different information not related to the
report. These two are not linked through some value.

Problem:
When I place the sub-report into the report footer (cause I want the
information to display at the end of the entire report) the speed at which
the users can move from page to page has slowed tremendously. I would have
expected the delay, if any, to occur only when the user gets to the last
page.

Does anyone have a similar experience or suggestions on how to improve the
performance?

Does your report use [Page] or [Pages]? If so you might want to remove at
least the Pages and possibly both.

I removed the page footer field showing [page] and [pages] and it still
takes a longer time to move from page to page. Once a page has been visited
though, the speed at which you can move back and forth is fine.
