Thanks for replying Nick,

I understand the following: "XP's install has disk partitioning &
formatting tools which you will be prompted to use during setup (boot from
XP install CD)"

How do I access these tools?
My disk just runs to the "start windows" screen and promptly stops.
Should I be pressing any keys initially to interrupt startup to access them?
Sorry, that I'm so thick!

Rick,
Have now realised I access those tools during setup.
Unfortunately I keep locking up on installation at Windows XP Professional
Setup screen and the bar at bottom reads:
Examining 25063 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi....

Have I done something wrong in formatting with Boot Disk.

Can I rectify my errors?

Thanks,
Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Boot with the startup floppy you used, run fdisk and remove the partitions.
Then exit and shutdown, boot backup without the floppy and with the CD
inserted. Start with the disk blank and use the XP tools to create the
partition.

Also, please reply within the original thread, by creating new posts it
makes things difficult to follow.
