I just installed 2007 and everytime I "reply" to an email Outlook is
not using the account the email came in through but selecting another
account in my email account list. It is selecting the same account
each time. I cannot find a setting to change the default for this and
I do remember earlier versions of Outlook having this feature either.
Any suggestions of correcting this problem?

Are you currently operating on an exchange server?
If so, in Exchange 2007 Management Console, you can change the "reply
to" email address option, by going to:
Recipient Configuration > Mailbox > (right click on the user and
select "properties) > email addresses > (select the email address you
would like to have be your mail reply email address) > Set as reply

Are you currently operating on an exchange server?

No, I'm not running on an exchange server....

are you accounts catch alls where 1 login can get mail for all addresses? If
so, the behavior is correct as it sends on the acct that it arrived on.

If not, there is an issue where outlook sends on a different acct if it
can't send on the correct one. I forget if it was fixed in an update - make
sure you have all the latest updates installed.

Can you send anything on the first acct? If not, make sure you are properly
authenticating with the server

Also - some ISPs require you to use their smtp - if the second acct is your
isp acct they could be doing it.

No, the "other" accounts aren't catch alls. These accounts are
actually client accounts, that is why this is such a problem. An
email comes in to me [jeri] but when I select "reply" the account
changes from [jeri] to [marsha], which is actually a client's email
account that I only use for sending emails. The [jeri] account is my
default account and the account I use for everything 99% of the time.
I'm afraid I'm going to forget to change the account an one of the
emails will go out and look like it has come from my client "marsha"
instead of me.

Can you send anything on the first acct?
Yes, I can send and receive on the first account
make sure you have all the latest updates installed.
I believe the program checked for updates when I installed it a couple
of days ago. I'll double check that, but I'm almost sure it did.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Please keep them coming!!

I hope they do keep coming as I have not seen an answer for this one
anywhere.

Cheers,
