Just got a new machine running Win XP Home. Want to set
up 4 or 5 users. Am finding that I have to configure all
multimedia defaults, sound card, video settings, desktop
wallpaper etc 4 separate times. There must surely be a
way to do this once and have those set ups apply to all
future new users? In desperation I tried copying my
User setup to the "All Users" profile ... but due to a
lapse in concentration only succeeded in removing all the
common pre-installed Program menus and Desktop icons!

Create one user and set up the proper settings. Then create the other
user profiles and logon once to each user. Logoff all users and logon
as the Administrator. Copy the first user profile on top of all the
others in the Control Panel > System > Advanced > User profiles >
Settings.
