I have been having problems with my Personal Folder being
replicated so that I had 2 of the same Personal Folders
to choose from when I opened Outlook 2003. I cannot
delete either Personal Folder. I assume that they are
one and the same file. Today I tried to rid myself of
these by exporting one of the files and then using that
one to replace my Oulook.pst file in ...Local
Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook/Outlook.pst.
When I powered down and rebooted I brought up Outlook
only to find 3 Personal Folders...all the same. Does
anyone have any suggestions or sympathy? Please post
accordingly. Until then I remain...
Prester John.

Nothing like this happens for no reason. Outlook only needs and uses one PST
file.
There is more to this story.
How did you get more than one?

Dear russ
I really do not knw. I have had to export and import my files many times as I have had to move to another computer or format and rebuild my disks several times. do you have any insights as to how I may rectify this problem
Thank you for your kind interest. I eagerly await your soon reply

Importing and exporting is the problem. There is no reason to use
import/export when you are transferring Outlook data from one installation
to another since you do not need to convert data from one file type to
another. Import and Export should be used only when you must change file
types.

In the future, simply create a PST file with the data you need to transfer
and open that PST file in the other installation. Do not import it. If you
need to transfer all your data at once, simply copy the PST file and
configure the new installation to use it as its new default.

The easiest way to fix your current problem is simply to create a new
Outlook profile from scratch and configure it to use the PST file you want.
The alternative is to edit the registry to remove the duplicate folders
